Governance of Enterprise IT carries 40% of the exam. Strong preparation still follows the complete decision chain: establish direction, allocate capability, realize benefits and keep exposure within enterprise boundaries.
Domain 1: Governance of Enterprise IT
Governance frameworks, structures, strategy alignment, stakeholder engagement, enterprise architecture, policies and information governance.
Domain 2: IT Resources
Sourcing, capacity, acquisition, asset lifecycles, workforce capability and accountable management of contracted services.
Domain 3: Benefits Realization
Performance oversight, change, monitoring, reporting, quality, business cases, investment governance, metrics and benefit evaluation.
Domain 4: Risk Optimization
Risk strategy, appetite, tolerance, enterprise risk alignment, assessment, response, monitoring and governance of IT-enabled exposure.
Governance mindset: CGEIT questions are not solved by choosing the most technical action. Identify the governing authority, enterprise objective, accountable owner, decision criteria and evidence needed to evaluate, direct and monitor.
EXAM AND CERTIFICATION PROCESS
The exam is open; certification validates senior governance experience.
ISACA states that the examination is open to interested candidates. Certification currently requires at least five years supporting governance of the IT-related contribution to an enterprise, across at least three domains including one year in Domain 1.
